Why Forty One (41)?

The origin of the name Forty One Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is pretty simple and one we hold dear to our hearts. The number 41 is not necessarily a number that is prominent in the Bible; however, the Bible says, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights and then the rain stopped. For 40 days Goliath came forward and took his stand, morning and evening against the Israelites and then David defeated him. Israel wandered in the desert for 40 years before entering the promised land. After Jesus’s resurrection he appeared to his disciples for 40 days then ascended into heaven. In our lives, we all have had different experiences. Maybe we had to weather a storm, face an impossible task, felt lost or alone. Regardless of your history, you should never give up, but continue to push through. We picked this name because 41 can be a fresh start, a new beginning. Jiu Jitsu is a great opportunity to find ways to weather the storm, face that impossible task and to find an outlet for the daily stressors that life throws our way. Jiu Jitsu can foster a sense of belonging. It brings together people from all walks of life and in all seasons of life. Training partners often become close friends, creating a supportive and motivating environment to grow both on and off the mats.
